Boulay PLLP is proud to announce that Erik Allen, CPA, CM&AA, has officially assumed the role of Managing Partner of the firm, effective June 1, 2026. He succeeds former Managing Partner Tom Johnson, who retired May 31, 2026, after more than 40 years at Boulay and four years as Managing Partner.
As Managing Partner, Allen leads the firm’s strategic planning and direction, identifies growth opportunities for Boulay, ensures the quality of the practice, and supports the development of partners as well as client-serving and operations team members.

After graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Allen started his career at Boulay. He was named a partner in 2002 and is a member of the Boulay PLLP and Boulay Financial Advisors, LLC Boards of Directors. Allen previously led Boulay’s audit department as the partner-in-charge of audit services. He currently oversees audit and other financial reporting engagements for clients in a variety of industries, including ESOP-owned companies.
Allen is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Mergers and Acquisitions Advisor. He served as a National Advisory Board Member of the Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Athletics and the Department of Economics and Management. While attending Gustavus he was a member of the Men’s Basketball team.
Outside of work, Allen enjoys travel, golf, college athletics, and an occasional pickleball match.
